Who replaced my Prozac with TicTacs?

The following is a post I began writing prior to our wedding day. I will write more about the big event soon. For now, enjoy reading about the mental breakdown I had a few days earlier.

Is this what pre-wedding stress and sleep deprivation does to a person? Recently I became emotional at work during a meeting with my co-workers, our branch director, a supervisor and some people (I use the word loosely) from the legal department. We were discussing the impact of certain new pieces of legislation on our work. From my point of view, the impact is devastating. Not just for my co-workers and myself, but for our clients as well. My co-workers, being mature, rational women, were able to convey this opinion with clarity and conviction. I conveyed it with tears and tissues. Nothing embarrasses me more than crying at inappropriate times. (When I say nothing, I mean nothing. I've tried everything, and nothing has embarrassed me as much as crying.)

Help me feel better. What's your most embarrassing workplace incident?

Once I wrote out a shipping ticket that should have read "farm cart"
Not paying particular attention I accidently wrote "fart cart".
Sadly, my co-workers discovered this mistake and it became a running joke in the office.

My most embarrassing workplace moment?......Gallantly helping a young mother get down the long outside steps at my school. I picked up the relatively heavy stroller (with kid in it) and immediately flatulated. Loudly. I ignored it. So did the mother.

"fart cart", that's a good one.

i don't think it's my most embarrassing, but it's definitely the most recent embarrassing... feminine bleeding onto a cloth office chair. ew.

Three comments in and I'm already shouting "TMI!"

LOL

I fell asleep in a meeting once and tried to play it off like I was thinking. Everyone knew the truth, especially Marylou! hehe That's your hint as to when this incident occurred.

Jenni, I hate to tell you this but it is genetic. There is not room enough to list ALL of the embarrassing moments I have had in my life. Fortunately, when you get to be forty or so it is really freeing and you don't give a hoot what anyone thinks when you screw up! You know what they say, "Laugh and the world laughs with you." I am personally responsible for keeping my part of the world laughing, why sometimes, it is nearly hysterical!

I'm sure I have several, but I once used the phrase, "...if I ever get run over by a bus..." in a meeting.

One time, (not in a meeting though), I was using a speakerphone to review my messages. One of my customers, whose problem I was working on, called me an "F'n yellow-bellied coward for not calling back" nice and loud and clear. Of course, I listened to the message AFTER I had called her back.

Congratulations to you and Scott on your marriage - can't wait to see your pics and post. I'll bet it was a really wonderful day.

PS- after that remark I was allowed to fire the customer, LOL!

Maybe my moment wasn't so embarrassing?

"Boston Police report that a woman was hit by a small bus around 5:35 p.m. yesterday at 73 Seaport Blvd.

The woman, 35, was taken to Mass. General, where she died. Police say they consider her death accidental."

I had a huge fight with my boss at a faculty meeting. I still cringe thinking about that. I had to go person to person to apologize. That was about forty "persons."

Can't wait to see some pics!

Off topic: I'm gonna try NabloPoMo again - to post a day in November. Please stop by when you can and leave comments once in a while to motivate me

A day late and a dollar short here, but perhaps you'll smile anyway...

Imagine being a middle aged guy with almost 30 years in working in an auto factory, driving around on a forklift supplying parts to the line and having those you stock for look up and realize you have tears streaming down your face from some piece on NPR.

At least once a week...
