I saw a man kick a dog

That's right, I said kick a dog. He had the dog on a leash, the dog was being hyper and unruly and stepped on the man's sandal-clad foot, so the man kicked him in the chest. Granted the dog didn't so much as whimper, but still... What would you have done or said, dear readers?

Same thing I've done in the past, that always gets me into trouble. Marched over, verbally abused the owner, and threatned them with a visit from my entire family to deliver the same punishment he just handed out to the dog.

Usually at this point the person I'm with is horrified I would get involved in this "domestic" warn me the offender might be unstable, and if I feel that passionate about it I should phone the authorities.

Sadly this warning comes while I have my hands wrapped around the offenders throat.

I took anger management. It's going well.

I would probably have just given the guy a dirty look. Then again, it wasn't a chihuahua was it?

Oh Che, if only you had been there. lol

Anon, it wasn't a chihuahua, it was a medium-sized dog. I admit, if it had been a very small dog, I probably would have watched in fascination as it flew through the air before I came to my senses and became suitably outraged.

I'd like to think I'd loudly say "Did I really just see you kick your dog?!" Then give him a piece of my mind. But I'd probably just yell the first question.

Interestingly, yesterday while on the Scarborough Rapid Transit I saw a woman hitting her dog repeatedly with the plastic part of those retractable leashes. Those things are heavy - I know this because I dropped one on my foot before. I was on the train - she was outside of the train station and I couldn't do anything. I don't know what I would have done exactly but I've never felt so helpless.

What did you do?

I have actually done the dirty look thing and I have gone over and said something....

Especially if its a kicking in anger not a push away kind of kick.

I hate seeing that kind of stuff. The problem with confronting the rage-o-holics is that same poor impulse control that leads to kicking a dog also can lead to some seriously nasty verbage. I have been called some horrible name.s

I also want to know what you did.

What did I do? I told him if he ever did it again it would mean the end of our marriage, and that I wasn't kidding.

Moving on, now...

I laughed which I know is completely inappropriate but still.
